Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of financial literacy and financial inclusion on the asset growth of Conventional Commercial Banks (BUK) and Sharia Commercial Banks (BUS) in Indonesia. The research is motivated by the gap between the rise in financial literacy and inclusion and the asset growth of the banking industry, particularly the Sharia banking sector. A qualitative research method was employed, utilizing a literature review and document analysis approach. Data were gathered through an examination of various literature, prior research findings, official reports, and relevant documents concerning financial literacy, financial inclusion, and banking asset trends. The results indicate that financial literacy plays a crucial role in enhancing public understanding of financial products, services, and management, thereby potentially driving asset growth for both BUK and BUS. Meanwhile, financial inclusion contributes by expanding public access to formal financial services. These findings support Financial Intermediation Theory, Financial Literacy Theory, Financial Inclusion Theory, and Trust Theory as frameworks for explaining the relationships among financial understanding, service access, public trust, and banking asset growth in Indonesia.
